What do we think of the other gender?

Quite honestly, what do you think about the other gender? I'm talking about your feeling about the other gender but the concept of.

I had a dream yesterday (very original, I know) about something that I've never dreamt about: I dreamt that I was a girl.

Now that in itself isn't that weird as we've all had a dream that we're something we're not: a supermodel, a body builder, some important personage, a superhero. But what really got to me, and is the reason why I'm writing this, is what I did, as a girl.

I'm sure that we've all seen some movie or show where a guy or girl are somehow shifted into the body or shape of the opposite gender. Movies like The Hot Chick with Rob Shneider, that one banned Pokemon episode where James dresses up like a woman, Family Guy in that one episode where Lois and Peter changed body for some reason, Futurama when they went to that one planet and that rock god thing took away their genders but have them back incorrectly.

What's the first thing that happens? The man, who is now the girl, grabs his new breasts and plays with them and the girl, who becomes a man, tries to figure out what having a penis is.

But what do we actually think the other gender is like? What I mean is this: in my dream, that I was a girl, the first thing I did was I wore a sling bikini (look that up if you don't know what it is) as underwear, underneath my clothes. Why? I don't know! I just did.... It wasn't even a dream that I had any control over, it's just what I did. I went to high school, which was weird because I'm not in high school anymore, haven't been in seven years. And did what I think girls did. But I was still a guy on the inside so I still thought like a guy. Now I can't remember other details but it got me thinking.

Me, as a guy, would probably do guy things if regardless of whatever freak accident would turn me into a girl.

But one thing that the dream made me think is if men and women act like me and women because of our genders or is it something we're thought? I mean you see girls play with dolls as a kid and boys play with guns and action figures.

I mean, if a group of men and women were dropped off in a deserted island, as children, and they magically didn't die...would they grow up to be what we accept as gender rules?

Now I'm intrigued; someone get to that.

That is my gripe for the day.

Actually gender seperation is taught, it's not something we're born with. We're taught from birth that boys do this and girls do this but never vice versa. Men are taught to hide thier emotions and be strong where women are taught they need to be protected and that we're fragil. It's the way society works. However situations can change; I had a lot of guy friends when I was young so I did what the boys did. I played with dinosaurs (I had barbies but they weren't shopping but being eaten by the dinos), I jumped bikes, climbed trees, shared scar stories, was fine getting hurt, shot arrows at cans too. And my parents didn't try to make me girly, if I asked for an action figure then they bought me one. And playing "house" was out of the question for me! As I became an adult I did get in slight touch with my girly side but I'd still take hiking over shopping. So for your island theory, no they wouldn't naturally conform to society. Hope that answered your questions! And I like your thinking. :-)
